LOCATION

Baraza lies on the south eastern coast of the island of Zanzibar, along the award winning Bwejuu beach,  recently voted by the prestigious top travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveller as one of the top 30 island beaches in the world.

Approximately a 50 minute drive from the airport or Stone Town and ten minutes drive from the village of Bwejuu. The Resort is situated on a 240 meter stretch of fine sand beach, with a coral reef facing the beach that runs down the eastern shore of Zanzibar.

CONCEPT

This beautiful 30 villa boutique resort evokes the heritage of Zanzibar dating back to the era of the Sultans.  A fusion of Arabic, Swahili and Indian design, with Swahili arches, intricate  hand carved cement décor, beautiful antiques, hand made furniture and intricate brass lanterns, Baraza will offer unparalleled standards of luxury on the Island of Zanzibar.

ACCOMMODATION

There are 14 one bedroom villas and 15 two bedroom villas, as well as one Presidential two bedroom   villa.  All the accommodation villas are designed to characterize classic Swahili architecture featuring dramatic arches, cement Baraza benches and intricate hand carved cement decorations.  The spacious villas feature luxury interiors, beautiful fabrics, hand carved furniture and brass lanterns, large bathrooms with luxury fittings as well as a spacious terrace and private plunge pool.

Two master bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room and terrace.  A central living room with spectacular sea front view, large plunge pool, outdoor daybed lounging area, outdoor dining area and terrace with sun loungers.  The Presidential Suite also features a small kitchenette and a small separate guest toilet.  There is also a separate, self-contained accommodation for maid or butler, if they are traveling with the guest.

BARAZA KIDS CLUB

• A fully equipped Kids club with a variety of toys, games and activities perfect for the kids, open during certain hours of the day.
• The kids club is not supervised and children are welcome to use the kids club if at least one parent or guardian is accompanying them.
• Shallow depth kids club pool which can be used under the parent’s supervision only.

Special High Season Kid’s Club Conditions

• During the months of July, August and the December Christmas Period, there is a Kids Club supervisor who organizes activities for the children during specific hours.
• We ask guests to note that during this time, only potty-trained children from the age of 4-12 can be left in the care of the supervisor.
• Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Our check out time is 10:00 a.m. but guests are welcome to use the facilities of the resort until their departure.  However, as it is an all-inclusive resort, the following conditions do apply:

1. Three main meals are included in the per person per night rate – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you arrive at the resort after lunch, then lunch will be included instead on the day of departure.

2. If you have had lunch on the day of arrival, and wish to have the buffet lunch with drinks on the departure date, there will be a charge of USD 34 per adult and USD 17 per child. If the guests do         not want the buffet lunch, then an a la carte menu for food and drinks is also available at a           All of this is payable directly at the hotel upon check out.
3. If you wish to have a day room until 18:00 hrs, then 60% of the daily rack rate is applicable.

In this case, the full all-inclusive basis will be included until 18:00hrs.

A free late check out (of maximum one and half hours) cannot be guaranteed and is possible only at the discretion of the management on a case by case basis depending on availability and other factors.  Late check outs exceeding this time frame of one and a half hours will again be subject to availability and available at a charge.
