Stone Town Visit & Mtoni Magical Recital (only on Monday & Tuesday)

An Afternoon of Legends: Stone Town Discovery and the Mtoni Palace 1001 Nights

Prepare yourself for an enchanting journey that begins in the winding corridors of history and ends under the starlit skies of a royal ruin. This curated expedition is designed for those who wish to feel the heartbeat of Zanzibar, transitioning from the vibrant energy of the city to the soulful, candlelit melodies of a bygone era.

Mythical Charms of Stone Town

Your afternoon begins at 2:00 PM with an immersive exploration of Stone Town, a place where time appears to stand still. This is more than a walk; it is a discovery of a “mythical” city where every carved door and coral-stone wall has a story to tell. Our guided tour takes you through the most iconic landmarks of this UNESCO World Heritage site, including:

  • The Architecture of Power: Visit the towering House of Wonders, the historic Old Fort, and the elegant Sultan’s Palace.
  • A Rich Cultural Tapestry: Wander through bustling bazaars overflowing with exotic scents, and visit the historic cathedrals and mosques that reflect the island’s unique spiritual harmony.
  • A Poignant Heritage: Spend a reflective moment at the National Museum and the former Slave Market and chambers, gaining a deep understanding of the forces that shaped modern Zanzibar.

Living History at Mtoni Palace

As the sun begins to set, we depart the city for the Mtoni Palace Ruins. Once the largest and most magnificent palace on the island during the reign of Sultan Sayyid Said, these ruins remain one of Zanzibar’s oldest and most evocative structures.

At 6:00 PM, the evening transforms into a sensory masterpiece:

  • Guided Heritage Tour: Explore the ruins with a specialized guide who brings the “living history” of the royal court to life.
  • The 1001 Nights Experience: As darkness falls, the palace is transformed by the soft glow of hundreds of candles and the heady scent of incense. You will be treated to a traditional recital of melodies and dances, recreating the magical atmosphere of the Arabian Nights.
  • Authentic Flavors: During this magical performance, you will be served traditional Swahili snacks, allowing you to taste the culinary heritage of the island.

Travel with Purpose

Your participation in this evening does more than just create memories. A portion of the proceeds from the recital is dedicated to the Mtoni Palace Conservation Project, directly funding the restoration and preservation of this architectural treasure for future generations.
