Jozani Forest boasts a rich diversity of native wildlife, including swamp forest, evergreen thicket and mangrove. Red colobus monkeys are endemic to Unguja. These monkeys are very playful and you can easily get close to them. Monkeys can be seen frolicking amongst the exotic indigenous flora. Spend some time wandering through the forest and discover its hidden secrets.
Then drive to Muyuni, a village in the southern district of Zanzibar.
The people of Muyuni follow their culture, norms and tradition very closely and during this tour you will get opportunity to mingle with them and learn more of their lifestyle.
The village is fascinating, you will discover a number of traditional activities including rope making, makuti plating, and weaving of Zanzibar baskets and mates.
The tour also includes a visit to the Ngonga cave located in the village, a beautiful gem sculptured by nature into fascinating underground halls, chambers and tunnels. It is a home of vampire bats, spirits and ghosts.
Timing: Half day excursion, morning excursion recommended as you can commonly spot more monkeys (Lunch is not included but can be added)
What to take with you: walking shoes, a nice camera and some money if you wish to buy sweets to local kids who will follow you around in the village
