This afternoon “discovery of Stone Town” takes you through this mythical town, where history and time appear to stand still. It incorporates a visit to the bustling bazaars, the past slave market and chambers, the National museum, the House of Wonders, the Old fort, Sultan’s palace as well as cathedrals and countless mosques.
After the visit of the town, you will be taken to the Mtoni Palace Ruins. It is one of the oldest buildings of Zanzibar and it was the largest palace on the island during the reign of Sultan Sayyid Said.
- The evening starts with a guided tour around the Palace with living history at 6:00
- This will be followed by a recital of traditional melodies and dances whilst candles and incense are re-creating the magical atmosphere of 1001
Part of the money collected at the recital goes to the Mtoni Palace Conservation
Project for the restoration of the Palace.
Timing: from 14h to 20h30, Swahili traditional snack are served during this magical evening. Drinks excluded.
What to take with you : comfortable shoes, a jumper for the evening (no short please for the evening).
